THE BEACH HOUSE

Detom Design worked closely with the owner and architect to develop a theme for the landscape on this beachside site. We responded to the character of the site - the coastal environment with its exposed cliffs and windswept vegetation; the bold architectural forms with their honest, textured materials; and the remnants of the original sandstone landscaping.

We selected a rustic materials palette of stone, gravel, rough sawn hardwood and galvanised metal; and a plant palette of bold tough plant species.

We ensured the layout took advantage of the fabulous views; made access through the steeply sloping site easy; and provided a protected courtyard to soak up the northern winter sun.
