WALLERAWANG SUBSTATION

Detom Design designed the concept landscape rehabilitation strategy and implementation costings for John Holland Group's successful tender bid for this TransGrid project near Lithgow in NSW. The new 132kV substation is located at the existing substation site. The redundant substation will be dismantled following completion of the new substation. Detom Design identified the NSW Forestry plantation residue for re-use in site rehabilitation to reinforce TransGrid sustainability outcomes.

We went on to provide detailed design for construction for this $38 million project. Locally native plant species are utilised to provide robust soil surface stability and screening to the adjacent residential landuse. The resulting landscape will be highly suited to the extremes of the local environment.
