ST MICHAEL'S CATHEDRAL

Detom Design created a landscape master plan and drainage design for the iconic St Michael's Cathedral site in Wollongong on the NSW South Coast. The site is the focal point of the surrounding heritage precinct and houses the state significant 1859 cathedral, the 1908 hall, 1925 hall, 1892 former rectory and iconic trees.

We researched heritage archives, listened to oral histories and assessed conservation management issues. We liaised closely with stakeholders and consent authorities to develop a solution that meets the needs of the vibrant church community and preserves the heritage items.

The master plan addresses universal and public access, parking, security, open space, gardens and streetscape presentation.
